Library of Things
The Library of Things is a collection of various materials and objects. Some traditional library items such as books and DVDs may be included however, this collection aims to offer more nontraditional items such as instruments, scientific measurement tools, and recreational kits. Most of these items are more suited for adults, however they may be used by people of various ages.

With the generous support from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, we have added new things to our Library of Things Collection as part of a grant to develop our Makerspace. The below items are funded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services through a grant to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (Grant # LS-256843-OLS-24). These things can be checked out by Cedar Hill residents only:

How to Check Out Items
Cardholders must have a library account that is in good standing, which means their card cannot be expired, there can be no fines over $5, and their card cannot be blocked.
If you do not have a library card, and live in Texas, visit a service desk and show your I.D. with a current address. We will give you a library card for free!
You can find the Library of Things Collection on the main level by the front desk.
Library of Things Policy Highlights
- Only one item may be checked out per library cardholder at one time.
- The Library of Things Collection cannot be renewed. Each material has a different checkout loan period. Ask the front desk for more details!
- The Library of Things must be returned to the front desk. They cannot be placed in the book return!
